The Front Porch Players of Jonesboro, GA, present the 1938 Moss Hart/George F. Kaufman romp, You Can't Take It with You, beginning May 3 and running May 3-5 and May 10-12. Come spend some time with Grandpa Vanderhof and his assorted family members (some actual family, some just folks who dropped by one day and then never left) and enjoy watching their various enterprises, from making fireworks and rockets (and testing them in the house) to learning ballet (badly) to writing plays (because a typewriter was delivered to the house by accident in 1930) to journeyman printing and xylophone-playing. Imagine the shock when wealthy Mr. and Mrs. Kirby, parents of the young man who's become engaged to Alice Sycamore, the most "normal" member of this family, show up a day early for a dinner planned to introduce the two families. Imagine the further shock with the big bear of a Russian ballet instructor challenges Mr. Kirby to wrestle! It may be hard to describe such a show, but it won't be hard to laugh, to learn to love the denizens of this house, and to be touched by the resolution found by the end of the show.
Admission: Reserved, $15 adults, $12 seniors and children; General Admission, $12 adults, $10 seniors and children; discounts available for groups of 10+ from service organizations, churches, senior centers, and schools.
