The Villa 100 Years Celebration - October 26 & 27
Classical Architecture Symposium, Patron Party, and Tour of Homes
You are invited to the centennial celebration of The Villa condominium, which features three exciting events.
Classical Architecture Symposium
Saturday, October 26, 10:00 a.m. at the Ansley Golf Club
Architect Norman Askins will provide a glimpse of Atlanta social life in the early years of The Villa with his talk Social History in the Early 20th Century. Barbara Hyde, Curator of the May Patterson Goodrum House, will speak on the recent restoration of that home, which was designed by Philip Trammell Shutze in 1929. Special guests Sally and Carl Gable, authors of Palladian Days, will be recognized for their restoration of Villa Cornaro near Venice, one of the few surviving buildings designed by Andrea Palladio in the 16th century.
Patron Party - Saturday, October 26, 6:00 p.m.
The Patron Party will open with a private tour of The Villa and a silent auction, followed by an al fresco supper and music in the courtyard. A special treat will be soprano Elizabeth Saliers performing three Italian arias, accompanied by her father, Don Saliers.
Tour of Homes
Saturday, October 26, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 27, 12 noon to 4:00 p.m.
A first-time Tour of Homes at The Villa will feature homes on each of the building’s three floors. This is a rare opportunity to view interiors of the Shutze-designed building, until now seen by only residents and their guests.
The Villa is located at 200 Montgomery Ferry Drive, NE, Atlanta GA 30309.
