The Azalea Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society program for March will feature Don Hyatt, a highly respected authority on azaleas and rhododendrons. Don's program is titled "The Bucket List". Most of his program will focus on the native azaleas of the Southern Appalachians. The program will feature our southern natives including scenic places to see them.
It will also include discussion and pictures of his trips abroad. He has visited the famous gardens of the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece and Germany. American sites that he has chronicled include the Pacific northwest and California. In addition, his program will also discuss environmental projects that he has been involved with such as the habitat restoration for the large flowered R. calendulaceum at Hooper Bald, NC and the red flowering R. maximum known as Red Max near Mount Mitchell, NC.
