SABAR REK! Uncovering Serer + Wolof Heritage
A shift from West African Manding dance traditions will uncover comparable lineages and traditions of the Wolof and Serer ethnic groups, specifically the rich, folkloric sabar dance and drumming techniques of Senegal. October 8 – 10 will feature four (4) specialized sabar dance workshops + one (1) drum intensive, under the artistic direction of Assane Kouyaté.
On Friday Oct-8 at 6:30 PM, a 2-hr mixed-level sabar dance workshop and exhibition will kick-off the weekend’s activities. The overall goal is to provide vibrant cultural and educational experiences to diverse community members. Offered in-studio (mask requirement) and virtual at The Atlanta Dance Academy – 2335 Cheshire Bridge Rd., NE, Atlanta, GA, 30324. Early Bird Registration Rates till Sep-25. Pre-registration required.
