Opa! Nick’s Westside Hosting a Greek Wine Dinner on June 24
Join Chef Nick Leahy as he takes you on a culinary and wine tour of Greece on Thursday, June 24 at Nick’s Westside.
Chef Leahy has created a five-course land and sea tasting menu complemented by some of Greece’s unique wines.
The dinner starts with the The Mezze Platter including a Greek meze called “taramosalata” and an eggplant dip or “meliztanosalata,” accompanied by fava, marinated olives, roasted peppers, and pita. The course is paired with a Techni White from Wine Art Vineyards.
The second course, Ktapodi Salata, is a popular Greek dish. Chef Nick’s recipe features olive oil-braised chilled octopus accompanied by peppers, olives, oregano, basil, and red onion, with the herbs coming from the restaurant’s garden. This course is paired with a dry rose from Palivou Viosinho that will complement the meal with herbs and fresh fruit with just a hunt of smokiness.
The third course, Garides Sagnaki, is a dish of baked shrimp with tomato, feta, and a mix of savory herbs. The dish is expertly paired with an Assyrtiko Florina, a dry white wine that complements seafood.
The fourth dish is the quintessential Greek dish of Lamb Souvlaki, served with house made tzatziki, Greek potatoes, and horta. The dish is well-paired well with a Cyclades Mavrotragano Mandilaria, a strong, well balanced, full bodied red with subtle notes of wood.
The dessert course of Loukomades, or honey-soaked doughnuts, is accompanied by Florina Malagouzia, an unoaked, aromatic, dry white that has just a bit of a bite on the finish.
The Greece Food and Wine dinner is $85 per person plus tax and gratuity. Individual seatings are available. To make a reservation, visit https://nickswestsideatl.com/upcoming-events/greece or call Nick’s Westside at 770-838-3501.
