New South Festival Singers Atlanta Home Concert
The New South Festival Singers, a 40-voice semi-professional chorale based in Atlanta since 1985, performs their season finale "Atlanta Home Concert" on Sunday, May 23, 3:00 PM, in the nave of the St. John United Methodist Church, 550 Mt Paran Road in Atlanta. Founder & Interim Conductor William O. Baker will lead the sacred a cappella choir in classical works by Kenneth Jennings, Claudio Monteverdi, F. Melius Christiansen and Antonio Vivaldi. The program will feature the early American hymns, spirituals and gospel songs that have been part of the Festival Singers signature programming for over 30 years.
The New South Festival Singers was created by William Baker in 1985 as Gwinnett Festival Singers, and was known as William Baker Festival Singers Atlanta from 1998-2015. The chorus has continued in-person rehearsals and public concerts throughout the 2020-2021 pandemic impacted season. Masks will be required of all performers and audience for the one-hour, live and in-person performance.
