Morehouse School of Medicine’s Hugh Gloster Society Celebration is the school's premier fundraising event. Named in honor of one of MSM's esteemed founders and late president of Morehouse College, Dr. Hugh Gloster, the society was established to help grow philanthropy and acknowledge exceptional generosity to the institution. Donations have been used to improve overall health and well-being, diversify the health and scientific workforce, and improve primary health care, with an emphasis on people of color and the underserved urban and rural populations of Georgia, the nation and the world.
Guests enjoy entering the "MSM Experience," a hands-on exhibit of programs and student work in education, research and clinical care, before enjoying a sumptuous meal and lively program that includes the presentation of the Louis C. Brown Vanguard Award, named in honor of the late Atlanta internist and an MSM founder. The Vanguard Award recognizes individuals whose pioneering spirit and demonstrated leadership have impacted issues of health disparities in Georgia and the nation. Last year's event raised a record-shattering $1.32 million in support of student scholarships and the institution’s mission of improving diversity and equity in healthcare.
