Larry Walker: Compositional Constructs with Social, Political, and Spiritual Overtones

A Selection of Methods and Content from 1990 to 2020

Larry Walker (born 1935) is a collage, mixed material, and charcoal artist who has been living and working in Atlanta since the early 1980s.  Walker was born in a small Georgia town and later lived in cities like Harlem, Detroit, and Atlanta throughout his life. Walker’s body of work is informed by the artist’s experience and observation of these urban environments. Walker was a professor and the director of the art program at Georgia State University, retiring in 2000, and is a professor emeritus of art. He is currently represented by Mason Fine Art in Atlanta and his artwork has been exhibited in and collected by top museums across the United States. MCMA is honored to host Mr. Walker's first exhibition held in Cobb County.

Kevin Chambers: Alegoria

Kevin Chambers (born 1982) is an Atlanta based artist who is known for his figurative, bronze cast sculptures. Chambers is driven by the concept that, while the literal meaning of a piece of art is often to simply entertain the viewer, the artist intends to portray an underlying allegorical meaning that carries a more insightful message. MCMA presents in Alegoria an expansive selection of Chambers’ bronze sculptures, which will be accompanied by complementary drawings, iterations, and maquettes, in a display that aims to elucidate the sculptor’s studio practice and artistic philosophy.
