Green Team Summit 2020 "Facing the Rising Sun: Climate Change & Ecowomanist Wisdom"
Georgia Interfaith Power & Light (GIPL) brings Rev. Dr. Melanie Harris, ethicist and eco-womanist scholar, to Georgia on January 25, 2020 at the annual GIPL Green Team Summit. Now in its third year, the Green Team Summit is a one-day gathering for people of faith and environmental stewards across Georgia, where attendees will have the opportunity to attend a variety of environment and justice-themed workshops, experience a low-waste meal, and view the recently released documentary, Flint: The Poisoning of an American City. Dr. Melanie Harris will offer the keynote address, “Earth Honoring Faiths: Living Inspired in Our Time.” Her scholarship critically examines intersections between race, religion, gender, and environmental ethics.
The Green Team Summit will take place at the United Methodist Church’s General Board of Global Ministries, located at 458 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE, Atlanta 30308. Tickets to this event are $40, with a $20 student ticket option offered as well. Green Team Summit activities begin at 8:30 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2020. http://gipl.org/green-team-summit/.
