Remembering Apollo 12 at Fernbank Science Center
On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 12, the second mission to land astronauts (Pete Conrad and Alan Bean) on the surface of the Moon in November of 1969, Fernbank Science Center and the Jim Cherry Memorial Planetarium invite the public to a special day of programming on Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Our Popular full-dome planetarium show appropriate for young children, Earth, Moon, Sun.
CapCom Go! The Apollo Story, a full dome planetarium feature for family audiences of all ages.
1:00 pm: FREE PROGRAM
-Planetarium short film (10 min) Flight to the Moon: LRO and LCROSS
-Special Presentation: - Georgia Tech Professor Thomas Orlando
-Topic: How Georgia Tech and Atlanta will play a role returning astronauts to the Moon.
PLANET-arium Show, our new live-narration voyage through the solar system that will feature for this special day the past and future exploration of the Moon.
The Sky Tonight, live hour-long exploration of the stars and constellations.
4:00 pm: FREE PROGRAM
The Sounds of Apollo 12. The lights will be brought down low in the planetarium as we remember the historic mission through selected audio of the astronauts' conversations with Mission Control and some highlights of pop-culture in the autumn of 1969.
Special Exhibit: Free
On this 50th Anniversary of Apollo 12, we also are pleased to open an interactive traveling exhibit that features one of the consoles from the Apollo Mission Control Room at Johnson Space Center. Sit where the flight controllers sat and imagine the feeling of anticipation and pride as they guided the Intrepid and Yankee Clipper to their rendezvous with the Moon and return to Earth.
Admission to the Exhibit Hall is free.

Saturday 10:00 AM - 5 PM
Unless indicated otherwise above, regular admission applies for planetarium shows ($7 adults/$5 students, seniors, and active military personnel, free for DCSD employees with ID). Groupon purchases will be honored.
