Donor Recruitment Drive for Cancer Patient in Need of Stem Cell Transplant
The Congregation Beth Jacob and Gift of Life Marrow Registry will host a donor recruitment drive for a beloved father and grandfather battling Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia and is in urgent need of a blood stem cell transplant. Steve "Shlomo" A., a Jewish leader with ties in Atlanta, is in need of a volunteer donor to beat the deadly blood cancer and he and his family are turning to the community for support and help finding a match as soon as possible.
To join the Gift of Life registry, donors simply swab the inside of their cheeks and complete a registration questionnaire. 18 to 35-year-olds who are in good health (the ideal demographic for successful transplants) are particularly urged to attend and join, especially those from the Ashkenazi Jewish community.
Those unable to attend in person can request a swab kit to be delivered at home by visiting giftoflife.org/Shlomo. To hold a virtual or in-person donor recruitment drive, email Traci Ackerman at email@example.com.
