The Bach Cello Suites are, arguably, the composer’s most successful pieces, but all this beautiful music written for a cello. A violinist could sit around and envy it, or he could just play it! Listen to Bach as if it were the first time with ‘CELLO ENVY’, a performance of Bach’s Cello Suites on the violin. Atlanta’s own Ken Lambert is introducing the ‘CELLO ENVY’ recital at several venues in the Atlanta area in Fall of 2018.
In his own words, Ken Lambert states, “The ‘CELLO ENVY’ is a project that I'm especially passionate about. Having grown up listening to Yo-Yo Ma, I would day- dream about playing the cello and wished Bach had written this piece for violin." The realization of this dream would take more than 30 years, but it finally struck Lambert that, "...with a little tweaking and a lot of practicing, I could make the Cello Suites work beautifully on my violin!”
This performance will take place in Buckhead at the beautiful Kellett Chapel on the grounds of Peachtree Presbyterian Church. It is free and open to the public . Doors open at 3:30pm
