Writer-director Billy Wilder's major cinematic legacy spans 26 films and six decades. Wilder cast his caustic, skeptical (and on occasion, affectionate) eye on American society, especially its naivete, ideals, greediness, and corruption. This series features eleven of his most successful and controversial films. Titles include Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard, Some Like it Hot, and The Apartment. The series also features three works by Wilder's mentor and inspiration, fellow émigré director Ernst Lubitsch.
