Born in China, BiLan and her family experienced abuse, neglect, and the death of both her father and sister during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. To cope, Liao painted her story.
Her “Return” series is about the impact of war on women around the world. In this second book, BiLan added the chapter “My Life in America.” Her paintings are the source of a future feature film and a documentary film currently in production.
Meet BiLan on Sunday, September 20 at 3:00 pm at Gwinnett County Public Library’s Lilburn Branch, 4817 Church Street, Lilburn, GA 30047. It is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing – cash and checks only.
