Legendary! will bring out your inner diva and leave audiences wowed, joyful and ready to dance the night away.
Dr. Melissa Arasi, Atlanta Women’s Chorus artistic director and assistant professor of music education at Reinhardt University, had a daunting task when preparing for this show. “I began with a very long list of my favorite female vocalists and quickly realized there was no way we could sing songs from all of them!” stated Arasi. Narrowing the list down was an enjoyable challenge, “by finding the best arrangements available for women's choirs and selections that [she] believed our audience members would recognize and enjoy.”
The power of music is strong; it is a part of people’s fondest memories. These legendary artists recognize that we can all touch people by singing of love, friendship, empowerment, and strength, and this concert carries on those messages throughout the performance. Dr. Arasi continues, “whenever I am seeking repertoire for the chorus, I am trying to find pieces that resonate with our mission and a message of strong, confident women.”
The AWC is excited to present pop songs, love songs, power ballads, and more as they take the stage at Out Front Theatre. Dr. Arasi believes “this is a fun-spirited show that will have you leaving the theater with a smile and a little dance in your step!” Don’t miss out on the thrilling end to the season that is sure to be Legendary!
