The Atlanta Post Polio Association will meet Saturday, June 6 from 1-3 pm. Dr. Dale Strasser will be the guest speaker for their ZOOM presentation. Dr. Strasser is a Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Emory Medical School in Atlanta, GA, where he also serves as the medical director of General Rehabilitation at the Emory Rehabilitation Hospital. In the 1980's he attended medical school, residency and fellowships at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Il and encountered polio patients during his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has worked with polio survivors the Emory Clinic since the mid 1990s and finds their stories to be both fascinating and inspirational. He lectures regularly on post polio syndrome to local, national, and international audiences and on an array of other topics including geriatric rehabilitation and the rehabilitation team approach. He is interested in discussing how the lessons from polio and post-polio syndrome could apply to the COVID-19 pandemic and to the care of the survivors.
