The Atlanta Post Polio Association will meet Saturday, February 1 at the Shepherd Center from 1-3 pm. The Shepherd Center is located at 2020 Peachtree Road, Atlanta. The guest speaker is Mark T. Pollock. Dr. Pollock is a practicing physician specializing in sleep disorders and pulmonary medicine. He will speak on sleep disorders common in the survivors of polio. He founded the first sleep disorders center at DeKalb Medical Center(now Emory Decatur Hospital) in 1995 and has dedicated his career to compassionately serving patients in the Atlanta metro area for nearly 30 years. Dr. Pollock leads Pulmonary and Sleep Specialists, a private practice in Decatur, Ga focused on sleep and breathing disorders. He has been named by Atlanta Magazine in the list of "Top Doctors 2019" for sleep medicine.
Dr. Pollock is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga (biochemistry) and completed his medical degree in Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tn where he achieved Alpha Omega recognition. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas, Texas followed by a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Boston University in Boston, MA.
