The show features abstract expressions of mood, music and movement and the escape from an always-on, ultra-plugged-in life. A playlist will be available for download on iTunes so attendees can listen to the music the artist experienced while painting each piece. The show runs from 9/22 - 9/30.
Opening Night: 9/22 FREE wine, snacks and live music from 7-10 pm.
About the artist:
Jennifer Jones-Mitchell is a self-taught artist who strives to tell a story through every piece she creates. Working with fluid and heavy acrylics on canvas, Jennifer experiments with drip, scrape and multiple layered techniques to create depth in her paintings that evoke a mix of memory and dream. Her aim is to infuse mood and movement in every piece and she creates rich layers that pull the viewer into the experience. Often painting to music, Jennifer allows herself to be guided by the rhythms and emotion of the songs and she sometimes credits the musical artist or genre that influenced a particular piece on the backs of canvases.
A native of Marietta and graduate of Oglethorpe University, Jennifer currently lives in Decatur with her husband, composer David Mitchell. Find more information at www.artbyjenniferjones.com.
