New South's annual Archaeology Day returns this year on Saturday, May 4th! Come out and see what archaeologists really do and learn how you can get involved in preserving Georgia's past. The ever-popular basket weaving, spear throwing with an atlatl, and digging for artifacts in our excavation pit will all be back, along with even more activities and exhibits for your family and friends.
Kids can grab a Passport to the Past and complete all the activities for a prize. Adults will enjoy tours of our headquarters building, the historic Tuggle House.
You'll also be able to tour Abby the ArchaeoBus, visit with local archaeological societies, and meet with Atlanta-area university archaeologists. We'll have information on volunteering, the business of archaeology, and how you can get involved in Georgia's historic preservation.
Free and open to the public!
Food and beverages will be available for a small donation, all proceeds going to The Society for Georgia Archaeology.
