SMPSP stands for Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers. Otherwise known as unit photographers, these artists capture moments amid a film set’s chaos, document behind the scenes and create publicity shots that get seen by millions. Often, the iconic image from a film we conjure up in our memories is a still photograph taken by one of these photographers and doesn’t appear in the film at all!
The important role of these men and women is recognized by SMPSP which promotes the archival preservation of still pictures shot during the production of motion pictures for their historical and cultural importance.
Join us as we host the first-ever exhibition of SMPSP photographs in Atlanta. It will be a celebration of the exciting world of filmmaking, the photographers who create the indelible images and the art of the set photographer.
