Come witness the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus as they honor the legendary band Queen and other iconic artists such as Tina Turner, Cher, Elton John, and more in Queens and Queen, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at Lassiter Concert Hall, 2601 Shallowford Road, Marietta, GA 30066.
General admission is $25 through Feb. 8, $30 through March 6 and $35 at the door. For more information about pricing, discounts and to purchase tickets, visit https://www.voicesofnote.org or call 404-320-1030.
Queens and Queen will be just like your favorite mix tape of chart-topping hits from iconic artists of the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s, including Tina Turner, Elton John, Madonna, Dolly Parton and more. The second half of the show will be dedicated to the world-renowned band, Queen. Formed in the early ‘70’s, Queen topped the U.K. charts for nine weeks with their breakout hit “Bohemian Rhapsody,” forever securing their place as superstars.
Aside from their massive successes in the music industry, all of these artists have made their mark as LGBTQ+ family members, influencers or supporters. From Freddie Mercury’s powerful ballads during the AIDS epidemic to Madonna giving wider exposure to the New York Ballroom culture (the culture portrayed in the FX television series, “Pose”), these artists have given a rocking soundtrack to help shape the LGBTQ+ community into what it is today.
Joining the AGMC will be Atlanta’s Yacht Rock Schooner, an 8-member band that specializes in performing music from the ‘70s and ‘80s, accompanying the chorus in the second half of the show.
AGMC Artistic Director Donald Milton III said, “Since we have this amazing band joining us, we thought we would take the opportunity to perform hits by some of the other great ‘queens' of music.
“With over 100 men singing, the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus is bigger than it's been in years and the sound is incredible,” Milton continued. “Even the rehearsals for these shows are wildly fun and I know the concerts are going to be something to behold. It’ll be a show that’s not to be missed!”
